Welcome to Cornish Garden Stories

I’ve been writing about the glorious gardens of Cornwall for more than 10 years. In that time, I’ve had the good fortune to be given guided tours of more than 80 gardens, by the people who know them best.

This website is a record of my conversations with some fascinating green-fingered folk. You’ll also find inspiring stories about gardens which have been rescued and restored, and features on a range of subjects, from micropropagation to moon gardening, and botanical art to invasive species.

Most of these articles were originally published in Cornwall Today magazine, and were enhanced then, as now, by stunning and evocative images from garden photographer Charles Francis.

I’m also writing a blog, in which I describe my regular visits to two wonderful gardens close to my home in Hayle, in the west of Cornwall. I’ll be adding more material all the time – because there are always new Cornish garden stories to tell.
